Kira's "Kidisms"

I thought I'd share with you some of Kira's latest sayings and behaviours. They certainly keep us amused!

Kira is very good at saying "Bye-bye! See ya later!" and even "Love you!" when we're saying farewell to people. Sometimes she'll even blow them a kiss! She usually reserves this for people she knows and is comfortable with, otherwise she can get a bit shy. But she surprised me when we were saying goodbye to my girlfriends after they'd popped by with Kira's birthday presents, because as well as the usual "Bye-bye!", she added "Thank you for the presents!"!! It sounded more like "Ah-kyoo fahnah peasants!", but you could tell what she meant. I guess she must've heard me saying it to them, but I never expected to hear Kira call it out to them across the lawn!

Neal was entertaining Kira with the alphabet this morning. He'd write down each letter in turn, saying what it was as he did so, and then Kira would say it back to him. "A", "A", "B", "B", and so on. No worries...until he got to "Q", "Q", "R", "Pirate"!! Ha-ha - "Arrrr, me hearties"!!!

Kira has discovered her shadow. She's completely fascinated by it! She's noticed it before, but over the last couple of days she's really become taken in by it - she even talks to it! "Where's Shadow?", then when she finds it, "Oh, hi Shadow! Come on Shadow!". It takes ages to get her to do anything when she's focused on her shadow, as she hasn't quite worked out that it will follow her wherever she goes. This morning, for example, we needed to get into the car. But instead, Kira chased her shadow across the front lawn away from the car, laughing and calling out to "Shadow". Eventually, she started heading towards the car, but she'd stop after every couple of paces to make sure her shadow was still there following her - "Come on Shadow!". She's starting to realise that everything has a shadow, though she's most intrigued by ones that move, and especially her own as she can manipulate it. She thought is was hysterically funny when I made her favourite teddy-bear's shadow kiss hers!
