Kira's "Big Girl" Room!

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!!! Kira's "big girl" bedroom furniture has finally arrived! And just in time, too - I'm now 37 weeks, 3 days pregnant!

The furniture arrived at about 10am, and Neal and I busied ourselves putting it all together, transforming the room
formally known as "the study" into Kira's new bedroom. Belly-
Bean will be having her old room, eventually, as it's already set up as a nursery, and it saves us from having to move all that furniture around as well. Plus, we thought it would make more sense to have Belly-Bean's room closest to ours for night-time feeds, etc. Kira's new room is next door to the lounge, which may interfere with her daytime naps, but she's already starting to outgrow those. So again, it makes sense to put Belly-Bean up the quieter end of the house.

As you can see, we've kept a lot of Kira's treasures for her new room, including the wardrobe mural I painted before she was born (I've yet to do one for Belly-Bean!). So hopefully her new room doesn't feel too strange to her.

Kira LOVES her new room! She was sooo excited to see the furniture arriving, and helped Mummy and Daddy bolt the bed together! She did not leave the room once, even after it was completed...we had a hard time convincing her it was time to come out for lunch! The bed is a bit too tall for her to climb up (or down), so she has a stool at the end of the bed to assist her. It only took her a couple of practices before she could do it all on her own! She loves the flowers and butterflies on her doona cover (which she helped choose), and is ecstatic to have her own pillows and cushions!

She wasn't too sure about being left alone to sleep in her new room, however. Daddy laid with her for a little while, to see if she'd settle for a nap. She did calm down, but I think she was too excited to sleep! But that's not such a bad thing, as she went down without any drama's tonight - too tired!

Kira woke up a couple of times through the night. She was still in her bed, but alas poor Teddy-Bear had jumped out, and she wasn't able to get him! Kira can't see the stool in the dark, so it was Mummy and Daddy to the rescue! On one occasion, when Daddy went in, he found Kira on the floor. She'd obviously tried to get Teddy, but couldn't find her way back into bed. We don't think she fell out, but we have her cot mattress on the floor for "just-in-case". We were up and down to her a few times over about 3hrs, but eventually she settled back down to sleep. Sunday night was a much better night. She woke once, had a drink and a nappy change, and went straight back to sleep, just like any other night. Yay!!

Kira looks so little in her big bed - she barely takes up half of it. But our little girl isn't so little anymore....we can't get over just how grown up she is! This is our angel first thing Sunday morning - still very excited about her big girl bed!!
